Today Aqara has officially added the Aqara Cube to their lineup, as well as the Non-Neutral Smart Switch.
Both of these devices require an Aqara Hub to work and communicate with the rest of your devices.
The Non-Neutral Smart Switch works with HomeKit, Google Assistant, and Alexa, which is great to see. The Aqara Cube however appears to only work within the Aqara App, and that is most likely due to its unique operations.
The Smart Switch comes in two flavors, single or double rocker, meaning you can control two different lights with the single switch.
The Aqara Cube is an interesting device as it can offer up to 6 different controls.
You can push it, shake it, rotate it, double tap it, flip 180 degrees, and flip 90 degrees, each with it’s own designated action.
My understanding is that because these actions are not standard and don’t really exist in the Alexa, Google Assistant, HomeKit apps, they aren’t able to implement it.
Hopefully they are updated in the near future with the ability to control these creative devices.
I look forward to getting these products in the next few days for testing out and reviewing!
The Aqara Cube is available now on Amazon for $18.99, and the smart switch is available for either $35.99 (single rocker) or $39.99 (double rocker). Right now you can use promo code AQASOCAL for an additional 20% off!
