At this years Apple September Event, also known as the iPhone event; Tim Cook skipped over his usual update on how the company is doing, and jumped straight into things.
We start with an update and demo for Apple Arcade, which is their subscription service for gaming on iOS, macOS, and tvOS.
We got a cute demo for a fun looking Frogger game, followed by side scrolling platformer by Capcom and then a funky endless running game with wild visuals and music.
Apple Arcade will launch September 19th for $4.99 a month for the whole family. There’s a 1 month free trial as well. If you play a lot of iOS games, this could be a decent deal.
Next up is Apple TV+, which is Apple’s upcoming streaming service, taking on the likes of Netflix, Hulu and others.
There is a premier trailer for “See” which is another upcoming show from Apple, set in a distant future where everyone is blind.
Apple TV+ will launch November 1st, also with the price of $4.99 a month. New shows will be added on a regular basis.
Any new purchase of an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV will come with a year of Apple TV+ included.
Many people were worried how they would justify $9.99 a month for only several shows, but Apple is clearly serious about TV+.
Moving on to iPad. We weren’t expecting new iPad’s at this event, but rather a supposed October event with new Macs as well.

We start off the Apple Watch video montage of users that sent in videos talking about how Apple Watch has helped save peoples lives, and helped people get more active.
Apple talked about their various participation in Health Studies and how Apple Watch is vital to it. There will also be an Apple Research app allowing users to provide health data to these studies.
Apple Watch Series 5 unveiled with Always-On Retina display. The one thing that was going to convince me to buy a new watch.
Display can refresh between 60Hz and 1Hz to save power and allow for the same all day 18-hr battery life.
When Apple Watch Series 5 is in “idle” mode, the screen will be dimmer, but the time and complications will be visible.
Once you raise your wrist, it will go back to full brightness and refresh rate.
Apple Watch Series 5 also has a built in compass, making it even more self sufficient if you were to go out without your iPhone.
Aluminum model Apple Watch will be made from 100% Recycled Aluminum.
There is a new Titanium and Ceramic model as well. Titanium comes in a light and dark color, and Ceramic is full white.

iPhone 11 unveiled.
iPhone 11 comes in 6 colors with the dual camera on the back, and color matches camera bump.
The Colors are: white, black, red, green, purple, and yellow.
6.1″ Liquid Retina display, probably the same as the iPhone XR.
Camera array is a wide angle, and ultra wide angle, instead of telephoto like in the iPhone X.
Camera interface is updated to show the entire shot behind the UI.
Night Mode automatically turns on when the light is too low for a quality photo.
Video mode can switch between cameras while filming. Same 4K60 as before, which is still fantastic.
Camera UI now allows for taking a quick video by holding the photo button, eliminating the need to switch between modes.
Slow motion video has been added to the front camera, as well as 4K60 video, and a wider sensor when used in landscape.
New CPU in the iPhone 11: A13 Bionic, which continues to be the fastest chip in a smartphone, increasing CPU and GPU performance over last years A12 Bionic chip.
The iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max will also include a 18W USB-C charger and Lightning to USB-C Cable in the box for the first time.
This means that the iPhone will finally have fast charging available from the get-go.
iPhone 11 battery life is 1 hour longer than the iPhone Xr, which already had the best iPhone battery life.

A13 Bionic has been customized to improve machine learning on the iPhone.
iPhone 11 Pro has 4 hour increased battery over Xs. iPhone 11 Pro Max has 5 hour battery increase over Xs Max.
iPhone 11 Pro additional ultra wide angle lens in addition to the standard wide angle and telephoto found in the iPhone Xs.
New camera feature coming this fall called Deep Fusion. Basically takes excellent photos in low/medium light using the neural engine.
All cameras can record video in 4K60, as expected.

FaceID has been mildly updated to be faster, and work at more extreme angles. No further details, but we hope that this means it can be unlocked while flat on a desk.
